Beauty & Makeup Tips for Dry Skin

In this beauty article, I will be informing you on the proper skin care techniques and makeup techniques for dry skin.  Now first let me start by saying that skincare is not only for women, but men as well. Your skin is the largest organ that makes up your body, and just like other organs, needs to be cared for. Now let’s get started! Dry Skin is characterized as itchy or tight after cleansing that may have a rough, flaky appearance. Dryness occurs when you skin doesn’t produce enough moisture and sebum, your body’s natural oils. Cleansers that you should must be gentle and moisturizing like Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser, followed by a toner and a moisturizing cream like Aveeno Skin Relief. Also you may wash your face using the oil cleansing technique, this technique is natural and consists of using castor oil and a carrier oil like (olive oil, sun flower oil etc) mixed together and applied to the face, then followed by steaming your face with a hot rag. This remove all the dirt and grime and as well as waterproof makeup. It may sound messy and strange, but it is known for its cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties. The ratio for dry skin is 1/3 castor oil and 2/3 carrier oil. Moving on to makeup….since dry skin and smooth makeup application don’t mix…it is ALWAYS important to moisturize your skin before applying your makeup. You can also choose to primer your skin using a primer. Primer is what is applied to your skin before your foundation to ensure a more polished and smoother foundation application. Primer is your best friend! It also helps to eliminate dry patches. MAC Primer does the trick. Using cream foundation and blush works best for dry skin because it is more moisturizing than powders and pressed powders. Depending if you want a matte or dewy look, you can finish with loose powder. Keep in mind that you should use a concealer that is 2 shades lighter than your skin.  Here’s a tip if you want a lighter coverage, mix you liquid foundation with you face cream and it will act as a tinted moisturizer! Stay tuned for our next series where we talk about oily skin! xx Kandia

Tattoo Salons News Newfoundland

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – New regulations banning the use of tanning salons for those under 19 years of age are poised to take effect in Newfoundland and Labrador at the end of the week. Beginning Friday owners of personal services establishments and tanning facilities will also have to register with Service Newfoundland and Labrador and post health warning signs. The provincial law also focuses on infection control practices at tattoo and body piercing shops. Those businesses will be prohibited from providing invasive body modification such as scarification, tongue splitting and sub-dermal implants to anyone under 19. They will also be prohibited from offering tattooing or body piercing to anyone under 16 without the consent of a parent. (VOCM)
